Constitution Island Reopens: Grand Tour Kickoff Celebration – June 28, 2025

After years of dedicated rehabilitation and preservation, Constitution Island is proud to reopen for public tours in 2025. Join us on Saturday, June 28 for a celebratory event marking this historic milestone, as we honor the island’s legacy and its vital connection to West Point and the birth of our nation.

The event will begin around 12:00 PM and features a distinguished lineup of speakers and honored guests, including representatives from the United States Military Academy, Putnam County, and New York State, alongside local and regional leaders. As part of the lead-up to the nation’s 250th anniversary, this grand reopening offers a powerful reminder of Constitution Island’s enduring place in American history.

Program Highlights:

  • Welcome remarks by Dr. Vincent Tamagna introducing Laura Mayer, President of the Constitution Island Association

  • Dignitary acknowledgements including:

    • Representatives of the venerable United States Military Academy at West Point

    • Michael Lawler, Congressman
