REENACTMENT DAY

Kathy Eastwood

Experience living history on Constitution Island!

The Constitution Island Association’s Reenactment Day 2017 will honor Constitution Island’s role in the American Revolution during the 240th anniversary of the Saratoga Campaign of 1777 and, with Cold Spring, in the Civil War.  There will be a special performance by Treason 1780 of Major General Arnold’s treachery to support Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival’s production of “The General from America” at Boscobel.

Watch as soldiers from both wars fire muskets, rifles and cannons!  See what camp life looked like for troops through inspections, drills, and tactical formations.  You’ll get to visit the soldiers’ camps and the new Education Center, and take a guided tour to the island’s redoubts and batteries.  Music will be provided by the West Point Band’s Hellcats, and the West Point Cadet Black Knights Drill Team will demonstrate their crack drill skills.  Be prepared for the thrills of tall tales by master storyteller Jonathan Kruk.  Food and drinks will be available, or pack a picnic lunch.

Bring your friends and family.  The event is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.
