ANNUAL APPEAL
Posted October 28, 2018

Dear Friends and Supporters:

We have had another excellent year! The Association is committed to fostering a thriving relationship with the United States Military Academy at West Point and we are happy to welcome the new Garrison Commander COL Marson and his wife Amy, as we continue to plan for the future of Constitution Island.

Completion of the WARNER HOUSE PRESERVATION PROJECT is slated for early 2019. Once complete, we will reinstate our public tours and Signature Events on the Island. Thankfully, maintenance of the Warner Sister’s historically accurate gardens has been ongoing this summer, thanks to the dedication of our invaluable volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, please contact us.  We need you!

Programming and Development have been at the forefront of our planning efforts with more vibrant educational programming on the horizon, as we reinstitute and improve upon the Little American Program. The Association is also exploring the expansion of its programming through collaboration with USMA academics, environmental and natural resource leaders, and educators. In July, this culminated in a meeting with these experts to explore environmental programming possibilities. We are looking forward to further developing and launching this new program, Constitution Island, on the Wild Side!

Our sights are firmly set on getting people to and connecting people with Constitution Island. We endeavor to share the history and ecology of the Island with visitors near and far while continuing to provide access to the extraordinary archives of the Association to West Point Cadets and community, professors and researchers.

The Association critically needs your support to enhance interior preservation efforts of the house, and prepare the assessment of our archives and the Warner House furnishings. We are grateful for your past donations, and I urge you to contribute to the CIA as we prepare for the  exciting 21st century reopening of the house. Your gift will help us continue to make this beautiful, historic gem available to all.

Please DONATE to the CIA in any of the following ways:

  • Contribute online via our website, www.constitutionIsland.org

  • Write a check payable to “CIA,” and mail it with the enclosed envelope

  • Enter credit card info via the enclosed donation card and mail it with the enclosed envelope

Additionally, we welcome you to our ANNUAL MEETING on Friday, 7 December 2018 at Dutchess Manor in Beacon, NY. We will be honoring the Sidamon-Eristoff family for their years of involvement and dedication to the Association.

THANK YOU for A CENTURY OF PROTECTING THE WARNER’S VISION!

Gratefully,

Vincent Tamagna, Chairman

Constitution Island Association

Dear Members and Supporters of the Constitution Island Association:

It’s time to RENEW or JOIN the distinguished group of people who have been important guardians of a special part of our nation’s history for over 100 years!

CIA’s decade old project has come to fruition in 2018, as we witness the full restoration of the Warner House.  With a dedicated Board and great support from the United States Military Academy at West Point we have made unbelievable progress.  The CIA has also launched a new education program and is prepared to welcome visitors to Constitution Island, as we continue the mission of the Warner Sisters.

All of this progress was made possible by your support, which is why we need your continued investment in the CIA! We hope you will visit the Education Center and the Island during one of our upcoming tours (tickets will be available via the website in April) or attend one of our 2018 events:

  • The Great Chain Sunset Cruise               9th June

  • Re-Enactment Day                                    25th August

  • Chairman’s Picnic1st                                TBA September (members)

  • Family Day                                                 22nd September

The exciting restoration on the Island may alter programming and timing of our events.  For instance, our Annual Soirée will now be taking place on The Pride of the Hudson as The Great Chain Sunset Cruise.  We hope to see you all there!

To ensure you have the most up-to-date information, please visit our website frequently or be sure to sign-up via the website for email updates. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

There are three ways to join or renew:

  • Call (845) 265-2501 and tell our office staff you’d like to join/renew; or

With your help, we will continue caring for the Warner family’s artifacts and keep sharing the history, wonder, and the amazing scenery of Constitution Island with our visitors.

We remain steadfast on our mission of reopening the Warner House, working with our partners at the United States Army Garrison and the United States Military Academy at West Point.
